JurassiSafe™ safely, rapidly, and efficiently removes toxic chlorine, chloramine and ammonia. Chlorine and chloramine are commonly used in municipal water sources to disinfect tap water. All three are toxic to certain reptiles and all amphibians and should be removed before use of such water (misting, topping off, soaking, etc.).

Ammonia is a by-product of animal waste and can build to dangerous levels if water is left untreated or unchanged. It exists as a mixture of free ammonia (NH3) and ionized ammonia (NH4+) in equilibrium. Free ammonia is uncharged and is a gas dissolved in water. It can pass unimpeded through membranes such as amphibian skin (amphibians utilize cutaneous, or through the skin, respiration).

JurassiSafe™ also promotes the production and regeneration of the natural amphibian slime coat. JurassiSafe™ is non-acidic and will not impact pH. No other product is required to make new water safe.

Directions

Add 1 mL (top line of enclosed pipette) to each 8–40 L (2–10 US gallons) of water. For larger dosing, note that 1 capful = 5 mL.

Most competing products do not remove ammonia. Ammonia is highly toxic to amphibians which utilize cutaneous (through the skin) respiration.

Because ammonia is so prevalent and toxic, it is important to detect and measure it. Seachem Laboratories' Ammonia Alert™ is an exclusive product for monitoring toxic free ammonia continuously without the bother of testing or using test kits. A sensor changes reversibly from yellow to green to blue, relative to the ammonia concentration. The device, under daylight, detects less than 0.02 mg/L free ammonia. For ionized ammonia detection, Seachem recommends using their MultiTest™: Free & Total Ammonia test kit (which also detects free ammonia).
